USWW Statement on Disneyland Park Closure

SEIU-USWW Statement on Disneyland Park Closure:

Considering the growing COVID-19 health crisis, we understand and applaud the decision to shut down the park through the end of March. We have spoken to Disney and been assured they will pay non-tipped Cast Members for what their scheduled shifts would have been during this time frame. Both decisions are the right thing to do, and we believe the company is setting an example that we hope other employers will now follow.

We are meeting with the company this coming Tuesday to answer any outstanding questions. We will update our membership as more details of the situation become available.

The health and safety of our members is paramount, and we have been closely monitoring the ongoing circumstances with COVID-19. We are doing everything possible to follow CDC guidelines and the guidance of our governor as they pertain to mass gatherings and maintaining healthy workplace conditions. You can find more up-to-date information and steps for prevention at the Center for Disease Control website and at our union website www.seiu-usww.org

Lastly, we want our members to know that you played a key role in these company decisions- the courage to raise your voices during our last contract negotiations has helped influence the current situation in a positive manner.

We’re stronger together.
