Last week, Proposition 50, to temporarily redraw congressional districts in California, passed with 64% of Californians voting “Yes”. The results in this election and in elections across the country prove what SEIU members know: people power will be the way to stop fascism and save democracy. As Trump and MAGA Republicans aim to rig the midterm election to amass more power, escalate their attacks on our communities, and march us down the path to unchecked authoritarianism, SEIU USWW’s thousands of volunteer hours helped Californians send a resounding message back to Washington, DC: not on our watch.
Be proud of the role you played in this achievements. The results wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of USWW members. Because of USWW’s work, SEIU California was able to:
- Knock on more than 175,000 doors;
- Make more than 1.2 million voter contact calls;
- Send more than 1.2 million peer-to-peer texts; and,
- Mobilize more than 17,000 volunteers.
We once again demonstrated that when we fight, WE WIN!
November 4, was an important win, but now we must look ahead and mobilize to win in 2026. The fight for our communities, our dignity, and our democracy is not determined by a single election – it is a long journey that continues.
