A team of Bay Area janitors, spent the last three months making sure that all Bay Area janitorial members received the scheduled raise that we won in our contract, and fought for back pay for everyone who didn’t receive their increase on time. In the end they recovered over $45k in back wages and ensured that everyone was being paid the correct ammount.
“For me this was a labor of love.” said Ana Meza, a janitor at Tesla and a USWW Executive Board Member. “In the past three months we have called thousands of members and interviewed members in person at over 30 different worksites. we are the first line of contact for these members, so often we are offering help with worksite issues as well as emotional support. I consider it an honor and a privilege to fight for my brothers and sisters.”
