In the past 6 months, your elected bargaining committee, which is composed of rank and file members of the Disneyland Park workforce, has been negotiating on your behalf for a contract that honors the hard work you put in everyday to bring magic to this park. During this time period, we held several actions and planned a town hall for November 17th. In response to our collective pressure and action, Disney notified us of a renewed offer that they put forward to us.

We believe that Disney’s offer meets the current needs of our membership, which is continuing to navigate an ongoing pandemic and inflationary economy that is challenging us all.

Although this offer was previously voted down on November 17th, the bargaining committee still recommends a “yes” vote. This is the best offer we can get without having to go on strike, which would be an economic strike, meaning that Disney workers will not be protected from being permanently replaced during this action.

In addition, many long-term cast members have said this is the best offer we have seen coming from Disney. That being said, we don’t disagree with cast members who say Disney can do better or that cast members deserve better. What we have collectively fought for and won at the negotiation table is a total of $3 dollar per hour wage increases across the board for all Cast Members over the duration of the contract:

  • $1 per hour increase, retroactive pay from 6/16/2021
  • $1 per hour increase effective Nov. 17th, 2021 (moved up 8 MONTHS from June 2022)
  • $1 per hour increase on 6/16/2023

This represents a 12% increase as of November 17th, 2021, in addition to a $2,000 bonus for 20-year employees ($1,000 for part-time) as well as $1,000 for 10-year employees upon ratification ($500 for part-time). We strongly recommend that members ratify this agreement and urge us to come together and stand shoulder to shoulder as a union. In less than two years, we will be preparing to negotiate with Disney for another contract. It is our strong belief that this agreement will serve as a stepping stone and a firm commitment from our union to continue to build power with our Master Services partners in subsequent negotiations.

Over the past 2 years, we have all been challenged by a pandemic that turned our life upside down. During this crucial time, we have negotiated furloughs, layoffs and recalls to ensure that workers could return to their job without loss of pay, seniority or benefits. Together, we also organized food banks to support families in need and serviced hundreds of Disney families, who through no fault of their own, were impacted and were in need of support. All of this is a testament to our collective commitment and power to help those who work for it the hardest. Let’s continue this fight, because when we fight, we win.

As a means to continue to inform members of the importance of this vote and to engage our workers and members, we will be meeting at the Teamsters Local 952 on Wednesday, December 1st at 9am, 3p and 7pm:
