An injury to one is an injury to all! On Thursday, March 12, over 200 janitors and SEIU-USWW members rallied in solidarity to protest the unjust and sudden firing of over 100 janitors employed by ABM at three NBC Universal worksites across Los Angeles, with practically NO NOTICE!
But SEIU members mobilized and spoke up. We demonstrated once again that: when we fight, WE WIN! After a repeated worksite actions, ABM agreed to bring our members back to work and with full backpay. We are working with the employer to ensure everyone is onboarded and cleared to return to work.
Ramon, a janitor at NBC Universal said, “The corporate executives don’t know how to keep this place running – BUT WE DO! We fought together because ABM & NBC Universal chose to suddenly cancel contracts, impacting over 100 of us. Janitors and engineers who have worked at studio lots and office buildings for decades. We deserve to be treated with respect. Without us, these corporations like ABM and NBC Universal wouldn’t make a profit. Thank you to everyone who showed up and spoke out with us in our fight!”
