“Winning healthcare and wage increases is not only a momentous victory for security officers at Kaiser, it also demonstrates that when workers come together and  form a union they can win a path to the middle class. All parties should be applauded for coming together to reach a fair and just agreement.”

—Eddie Iny, Secretary-Treasurer of SEIU United Service Workers West

Safer Buildings, Stronger Communities

This year nearly 10,000 private security officers in California improved their jobs and public safety by winning strong union contracts.

Security officers united in SEIU Local 2006 and SEIU Local 24/7 are leading a national movement to turn dead-end private security jobs into good jobs you can raise a family on.

Private security is one of the nation’s top-10 fastest growing industries with already more than 1 million private security officers working in American today – that’s more than twice as many police officers coast to coast! Private security is an industry dominated by low wages, inadequate training and African American workers.

SEIU Stand for Security is a national, community-based campaign to build stronger communities by helping hundreds of thousands of predominately African-American security officers win a better future.
